South Molton is set on a south facing slope of Exmoor between the
raw hills and rich rolling pasture country of central eastern Devon, a
natural market centre. The focus of the town is the elongated town
square running east to west.
The church of St.Mary Magdalene is like a small cathedral. In the middle
ages it was made a bishopric, but no bishop was ever appointed.
An
unusual attraction is Quince Honey Farm, west of the town centre.
Through glass screens visitors can observe the world of the honey bee.
