Torquay is in a superb setting above Torbay. its palm trees and atmosphere of opulent leisure make it the nearest thing in Britain to a French Riviera resort. On the edge of the town is the famous Kent’s Cavern, one of the oldest known human dwelling-places in Britain, dating back to the last Ice Age.
Torquay, like so many other popular resorts on this coast, has a traffic problem, and parking restrictions in streets near the beaches and harbour.
